Theological Journals, Part 2: 9/3/2022
Standard Bearer (August 2022): in “God’s People in the World,” Rev Holstege makes a solid pitch for the anti-thesis, living separate from but involved in the world, bearing light as opportunity is afforded and practicable. Good stuff.
Standard Bearer (September 2022): in “How shall the PRCA responds,” Prof. Gritters is commenting on the severity of chastisements being experienced by the PRCA. His comments are heavy on Leviticus 26ff and Dt. 28. God chastens His people. If you walk contrary to Me (God), I will set My face against you.
Bibliotheca Sacra (Jan-Mar 2021): in “A Chronology of the Life of Christ with Emphasis on the Nativity and Epiphany,” Kurt Simmons, J.D., argues Feb-Mar 31 AD for Jesus’s interaction with the Samaritan woman at the well.
Modern Reformation (July/Aug 2022): in “The Role of Creeds and Confessions in the Church,” Dr. Guy Richard cites Samuel’s Miller’s statement on the role of Confessions—homogeneity, peace and purity of the church, prevention of strife, apostasy and heresy, and to be written and adopted by the ecclesial body. Samuel Miller wrote this in 1824. It still obtains and is warrantable.
Modern Reformation (Sept/Oct 2022): the Editor puts forth a call for letters to the Editor, letters of 400 words or less.
Calvin Theological Journal (Spring 2022): “Theological Interpretation in Nigeran Prosperity Preachers:” Dr. Samuel Okanlewon owns the exegesis of 2 Cor. 8.9 dealing with the humiliation and exaltation of Christ, not the twisting done by Nigerian Pentecostalists.
