Theological Journal, Part 2: 9/20/2022
Table Talk (Oct 2022): “Chastity:” Dr. Susan Bennett makes the Biblical case for sexual chastity and protection of the marital boundary.
Bibliotheca Sacra (Jan-Mar 2021): in “A Chronology of the Life of Christ with Emphasis on the Nativity and Epiphany,” Kurt Simmons, J.D., puts the last week of Jesus in late March-early April 33 AD.
Modern Reformation (July/Aug 2022): in “The Role of Creeds and Confessions in the Church,” Dr. Guy Richard notes these public documents are public and advise to insiders and outsiders what may be expected in the church.
Modern Reformation (Sept/Oct 2022): a translation of Herman Bavinck’s “The Christian Faith:” Bavinck waxes long on the glorious assurances the Church has in her bold affirmations of the Apostles’ Creed. Not mamby-pamby here with Prof. Bavinck, but solid, Reformed-based Biblical teaching.
Calvin Theological Journal (Spring 2022): “Theological Interpretation in Nigeran Prosperity Preachers:” Dr. Samuel Okanlewon continues his defense of 1 Peter 2.24 as referring to soul-healing not physicial healing as purported by Nigerian prosperity proponents.
Westminster Theological Journal (Nov 2021, 355-381): BOOK REVIEW: Gabriele Boccacinni’s “Paul’s Three Paths of Salvation” (Eerdmans, 2020): the reviewer places Boccacinni’s in a bold and explicit pattern of justification by works and outside the traditional Reformed view of justification. Furthermore, the reviewer puts scholars of the NPP-crowd (e.g. NT Wright) and "Paul-within-Judaism" in the same camp--justification by meritorious works.
