John Foxe: "Acts and Monuments," 6.13ff.

Mary sends a letter to the Lords’ Council on 3 Mar 1550. She is not happy about Uniformity, the new religion and the new order of worship. The letter is given by Foxe. Another letter by Mary is written to the Lord’s Council on 4 Dec 1550—to wit, two of her chaplains have been picked up by LEOs over failure to conform to Uniformity. She talks about promises made to her of private masses made to her from the Emperor’s ambassador. The entitled Tudor royal thinks she is an exception to the nation. The Lords’ Council responds in a letter to her on 25 Dec 1550 exhorting her to conformity with the Scripture and the ancient church, not the corruptions and novelties that deviate from the apostolic faith.
