Bishop Burnet puts this on the table. An interesting letter of Henry to Francis 1 with a note by/notarized by Crumwell attesting to its veracity, to wit, that Francis 1 concurred with Henry's nullity-game with Catherine (with the bastardization of Mary), the validity of the Boleyn marriage and legitimate issue with Elizabeth, and Henry's Supreme Headship of the Church of England. Further, that Francis had secured an offline affirmation about the matrimonial maneuvers while Clement VII was in Marseilles, France (with his housekeeper?). Having noted all that, however, Henry finally breaks with Francis because Francis flips--switches--sells out--and games Henry. And Henry and Francis seemed so nice.
