20 YEARS AS THE ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY, 1533-1553. (1) 1547-1553, for 6 of the 20 years, Dr. Cranmer viewed Edward VI as the "Godly Prince," a Josiah. (2) 1535-1540, for 5 of the 20 years, Dr. Cranmer was subordinated, controlled, and directed by his superior, the Deputy of Henry, Lord Crumwell--Vicegerent of the Spirituals. (3) 1533-1547, for 14 of the 20 years: Dr. Cranmer's powers as ABC were used for Political Reformation--collection of oaths in support of Henry's political reformation. 1549-1553, for 4 years as ABC, he was forced to adopt Northumberland's policy of collecting monies from churches. (4) 1547-1553, for 6 of 20 years, he accomplished two of three projects--BCPs (and pulling in of Roman service books), the Articles of Religion, but failure re: Reformatio Legum Ecclesasticarum (a Reformed code of discipline). (5) 1553-1556, brig time in London and Oxford before the flames of the Papes.
