Bishop Gilbert Burnet: The History of the Reformation, 5.40ff.

Edward VI's journal continues. 1551 we believe. Through and into Oct. Largely, Edward’s movements here-and-there: Windsor, Hampton Court, Farnham. He entertains French representatives cordially at meals and in the hunt. Meanwhile, grumpy Charles V is harassing French ships, castles and other areas. The French, it would appear, wants England’s friendship. Meanwhile, the Turks take Tripoli, Malta, a castle in Sicily and end up near some mines in Hungary. Very little to nothing about theology or Dr. Cranmer thus far. However, Mary’s mass-saying priests are about to being “Entowered,” or, put in the Tower. Charles V’s boys are not happy if that happens, to wit, Mary going with her mass-mongerers. Also, another note: a French ambassador attends divine worship with Edward at Hampton Court—inferably of necessity, with the English service.
