Millard Erickson, Ph.D.: "Christian Theology:" Ch.9--Inspiration, 199ff.

The Preservation of the Revelation: Inspiration—The definition of inspiration: divine, supernatural influence upon the writers so the accuracy of the revelation and record is guaranteed. Erosion or modification of the revelation and record is precluded. The fact of inspiration: Mic.4.4; Is. 8.11, 20; Amos 3.1; Jer. 30.4; 2 Sam.23.2; Matthew 4.1-11; Mt. 5.18; John 10.35; Acts 1.16 and Psalms 69.25 and 109.8; Acts 3.18, 21; Acts 4.25; 1 Peter 1.20-21, 2 Tim.3.16-17; Jesus pointed to the indestructibility of Scriptures (Mt.5.18) while predicting the destruction of the Temple (Mt.24.2). Issues: form, Bible’s own terms, degrees, detectable, sources, levels, shaping of materials, permanence, writer or product or both.
