Millard Erickson, Ph.D.: "Christian Theology," Ch.13--God's Goodness, 29...

God’s love and justice—a point of tension? While mentioning Marcion, he does not deal with the issue but mentions, of all things, a quote from Joseph Fletcher’s "Situational Ethics." As odd as a fish flying or bird swimming beneath the surface of a lake. Why did he go there? While he lands in the right place, that all attributes qualify the others, a slight Marcionizing whiff hangs in the air. The best mode of investigating God’s attributes, he tells us, is Scriptural, not via the scholastics' methods, although he impugns them without further elaboration. We affirm things in part, suspect him in parts, and deny in part some things. Pp.283-300.
