Bp. Gilbert Burnet: Reformation of the Church of England," 5.1.50ff

King Edward VI's Journal

5.1.50-63. It is not clear if this is 1552 or 1553. The Boy King Edward VI is keeping a close record on all matters political, domestic and foreign, France, Spain, Flanders, as well as internal issues. The Duke of Somerset gets his head cut off after a trial—treason. One light shines through—he wants to support the Germans since they are of “my religion.” Not a word, however, about theology. This is dreary, detailed and give the day-by-day account of the 15-or-16 year old King.
