Millard Erickson, Ph.D.: "Christian Theology," Ch. 11: Power of God's Wo...
1.
The Greatness of God—the survey on this is: the
nature of the attributes, the classification of attributes, and the attributes
of greatness. He offered little beyond the other grand systematicians. When he rather
mocked his superior, Stephen Charnock, Millard crashed his 1-engine plane on the
VW-runway. Communicable, incommunicable, absolute and relative, and essential attributes
are put forward. Word of caution? He has effectively thrown the Creeds, Reformation
Confessions and church historians to the side, other than a peek here-and-there.
This reads like lectures to students. He unoriginally talks about God’s greatness—Spirituality,
personality (versus Hegel’s thud of impersonality and pantheism), life and infinity.
Looking at the watch again and shaking it to make sure it’s working. 1200 page and
a snoozer. Pp. 263-282.
