Mid-America Journal of Theology (Fall 2021): in “The Ark of the Covenant: A Sermon on Exodus 25.8-22,” Rev. Brian Alred comments on the Ark as containing the manna, Aaron’s budding plant, and the Ten Commandments—the God of relationships, rule and redemption. An excellent sermon.
Hedgehog Review (Summer 2022): in “Pastlessness,” Dr. Lasch-Quinn discusses the 20th century philosopher, an Italian, Augusto Del Noce (1910-1989) who commented on 20th century totalitarianism as a new Gnosticism with an inherent dualism discernible only by the Cognescenti, the elites with their infallible insights.
Hedgehog Review (Fall 2022): “Notes and Comments:” we hear about “Sexual Positivity,” an offspring of the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s-1970s and some inherent contradictions. We’ll see where this one goes.
“The Fundamentals—A Testimony to the Truth, Vol. 1: “Chapter 5: Holy Scripture and Modern Negations” by Prof. James Orr of United Free Church College, Glasgow, Scotland: Prof Orr concludes his article more with a wimper than a bang. His earlier pages were smoking-hot pages defending inspiration. We move onwards in the next round.
“The Fundamentals—A Testimony to the Truth, Vol. 2:” in “Chapter 5: The Testimony of the Organic Unity of the Bible to its Inspiration,” Dr. A. T. Pierson comments on the complexity of times, places, authors and ages, and, yet, serving as “E pluribus unum,” a unity amidst diversity.
“The Fundamentals—A Testimony to the Truth, Vol. 3: “Chapter 6: At-One-Ment by Propitiation,” Dean Dyson Hague of Wycliffe, U of Toronto, makes his start chiding some of the modern versions of Socinianism, the petulant God who’s annoyed, blames the innocent, and lets the rogue-humans off (and the life, e.g. the God of brutality, etc.)
“The Fundamentals—A Testimony to the Truth, Vol. 4:” “Chapter 5: The Decadence of Darwinism,” Henry Beach begins his commentary from Darwin’s own writings.
“Theologians You Should Know: Apostolic Fathers to the 21st Century,” Dr. Michael Reeves discusses Augustine’s Confessions, Chapters 4, and Augustine’s detour into Manicheanism.
