National Catholic Register (Dec 2022): “Midterms Aftermath:” a recount or review of the midterms in terms of the House and Senate. Anglican Journal (Oct 2022): “): “Education Directory:” a list of schools are given with brief histories. Anglican Journal (Nov 2022): “A Life of Service:” Sean Franklin gives an encomium to Queen Elizabeth II. Anglican Theological Review (May 2022): in ): in “Reforming Tradition: Anglican Spirited Continuity,” Dr. Ross Kane further discusses the views of “tradition” including the Oxfordians and Newmann’s view of doctrinal development. Anglican Theological Review (Aug 2022): “`Love is our Lord’s Meaning:’ Spiritual Formation in Julian of Norwich and Desmond Tutu,” Frank England begins to weigh the “mysticism” and Julian’s questioning of her medievalist views. She came to see God’s love rather than justice and sin. Anglican and Episcopal History (Aug 2022): in in “Huguenot Anglican in Seventeenth Century Virginia,” Rev. Lonnie Lee notes that Huguenot-Anglican congregations in Virginia were under the governance of the Bishop of London. The Pastors were bi-lingual. Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society (Mar 2022): in “Societally Derived or Studiously Prosecuted? God, Revelation, Education and David Payne:” Dr. Christopher Sarver notes that Payne was, top to bottom, an educator and Pastor advocating for the education of black Churchmen. Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society (June 2022): in “Evangelicals, Justice and the Civil War,” Dr. Obie Tyler Todd discusses “personal and public justice” before and after the Civil War. In the 1770s, Congregational Pastors were deploring the injustice of slavery. Trinity Journal (TEDS, Spring 2022): in “The De-Creation of Genesis 1 in the Trumpets of Revelation 8-9,” Dr. Craig Robinson continues this time noting the trumpets are also evinced in the Exodus plagues. Other commentators have noted parallels. Table Talk (September 2022): “Exodus 25:” the size and purpose of the Ark of the Covenant is described, the sign of the covenantal and eschatological Presence. The Ark is not the Divine Presence, but the sign, exhibition, memorial and sermon of that Presence, like our modern sacraments. Rothwell notes how moderns think Christianity is oppressive from colonizers, treatment of indigenous peoples, to abortion to sodomy and more. Table Talk (Dec 2022): “Last Things:” Dr. Keith Mattison notes that eschatology begins in Genesis and it an “All Bible Doctrine,” not just the standard rubrics associated with the general end times or the interim state between death and resurrection. An interesting take. Standard Bearer (October 1, 2022): in “Culture of Compassionate Care,” Rev. Ericks raises the comprehensiveness of the church, from Elders, to parents, to the elderly and others affording compassionate care. Not just the church’s officers. Standard Bearer (15 Nov 2022): Heinrich Bullinger’s “That the faithful are justified by faith without the law and works…”. Bullinger’s comments are offered. A rough translation, but Prof. Bullinger gets Paul, Romans, Galatians and the entire Canon.
