John Foxe: "Acts and Monuments," 6.18ff.

May-Aug 1551. Multiple letters go back and forth between Princess Mary and Edward’s Council. She is long-winded, very unctuous, but very peremptory in her Tudor-stoutness that she wants the Mass said at her house and her Dr. Mallet, a Papist priest, released from the Tower. The Council is equally unctuous but claim they must uphold the King’s laws. Finally, a short letter is sent from Edward to Mary. To his ever-lasting credit, John Foxe has copies of all this, including a copy of the King's instructions, given to the Lord Chancellor (22). In the following pages, we will be following our friend, Steve Gardiner of Winchester whose home is also the Tower.
