More largely, Bishop Burnet holds forth on the cruelties of Rome, even when they claim to have corrected some of the Reformation abuses, the instinct to power and domination remains in the Papal DNA. Apparently, Romanist corrected some of the cruder forms of indulgence peddling in and around Germany, but Burnet notes that in Spain and Portugal, the crude sales of indulgences was unabated. The Roman fox in Germany simply shifted tactics without needing to do see in the more Papacratic fiefdoms or with their inmates and serfs
