New Horizons (June 2022): in “PLANTING A DAUGHTER CHURCH,” PHILIP T. PROCTOR AND JOHN PAUL HOLLOWAY describe church planting and its philosophy of pruning and establishing a new plant, in this case, in Manassas, VA. Hence, two churches in northern VA. A healthy approach which is refreshing to read.
Journal of Biblical and Theological Studies (5.2: 2020): in “The One Church, the Many Churches,” the Roman scholar, Eduardo Echeverria, notes an advance in charity (our word) by Rome since Vatican II towards other ecclesial communions. The one and the many issue is on offer.
Reformed Presbyterian Theological Journal (1837): the Editor summarizes Rev. James Smythe’s sermon on Is. 13. “Witnesses” to and for God. The cause of truth is on trial before the world, and those who give testimony in its favor are witnesses for God.
Southwestern Theological Journal (Fall 2021), in in “THE USE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT IN THE APOCALYPSE,” Dr. Gregory Beale discusses the criteria for ascertaining OT allusions in Revelation.
Reformed Theological Journal (Sept 2020), in “Books that Merit (Re)Reading: A Long Obedience in the Same Direction Forty Years Later,” Dr. John R. Muether comments on Eugene Patterson’s warning about subverting doctrine and worship that reorients to the self instead of God.
The Biblical Repertory/Princeton Review (Volume 9, Issue 1, 1837, pages 29ff.). James Waddel Archibald reviews Art. 1V.—Plea for Voluntary Societies and a Defense of the Decisions of the General Assembly of 1836 against the Strictures of the Princeton Reviewers and others.— By a member of the Assembly, New-York, John S. Taylor, 1837, pp. 187. Rev. Alexander is still discussing the authority and power of the GA to establish a Missions Board.
