Theological Journals, Part 1
Anglican Journal (June 2022): continues the discussion about the poverty of retired Anglican clergy serving the indigenous peoples in northern Canada. Housing costs far exceed their minimalist pension.
Trinity Journal (TEDS, Spring 2022): in “The Ancient Church Calendar,” Dr. Philip Derstine is in full-wonk mode on Israel and Babylon’s calendar, important for dating issues of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
Table Talk (August 2022): Misunderstood Biblical Words: “Eagles’ Wings:” a metaphor for rapid and furious destruction by an eagle, a metaphor for protection over its young, and a metaphor for flying high above the turmoils of the earth.
Bibliotheca Sacra (Jan-Mar 2021): in “A Chronology of the Life of Christ with Emphasis on the Nativity and Epiphany,” Kurt Simmons, J.D., argues for Jesus’ baptism in summer/fall of 29 AD with a 3.5 year ministry on earth.
Modern Reformation (July/Aug 2022): in “When Doctrine Divides the People of God,” Dr. Rhyne is interviewed and offers comment on doctrinal resolution in a church over a pastor’s view. He gives an example from his own experience on millennialism.
Mid-America Journal of Theology (Fall 2021): in “Should Effectual Calling and Regeneration be Distinguished,” Dr. Cornelius Venema further defines Turretin’s scholastic outline on both topics. Precision is the name of the game.
Global Anglican (Spring 2022): in “John Owen on the Dangers of Biblicism,” Rev. Rich Duncan (CoE, Peterborough, UK) comments on Owen’s Trinitarianism. If that goes, so does soteriology.
