Theological Journals, Part 1

Trinity Journal (TEDS, Spring 2022): in “The Ancient Church Calendar,” Dr. Philip Derstine gets wonky about lunar and solar calendars with the technicalities of such. VALUE: our calendars today which we take for granted, yet, have quite the history behind it. Anglican and Episcopal History (June 2022): in “’You Share Our Story’: Historiographies of the Lambeth Conference,” Dr. BENJAMIN GUYER shifts to some mid-20th century works of about 600ish pages. VALUE: engagement of those sources for the historian? Someone would, but the queue is full. Anglican and Episcopal History (June 2022): in “Archbishop Michael Ramsey and the Lambeth Conference,” Dr. PETER WEBSTER develops Ramsey’s insights into the theological turbulences of liberal ( = decadent) theologies. Theology was shifting to the southern hemisphere. Anglican and Episcopal History (June 2022): in “Anglicanism, the Lambeth Conferences, and International Relations in the Twentieth Century,” Dr. ANDREW CHANDLER engages with the mid-20th century Lambeth Conferences getting involved in issues of war and peace. Table Talk (July 2022): the 5th commandment involves protecting innocent life, including prenatal babies. How very timely. VALUE: emphasize the Law in our times. Standard Bearer (June 2022): “Letters to the Editor:” a certain letter vigorously remonstrates with Rev. Key’s article on sexual abuse written in the May 2022 issue. She wonders if he has done the research and, instead, has offered nostrums that valid insights to the pain and anguish of victims. VALUE: the importance of Elders have policies in place in the congregation for such.
