Evening Prayer
For
Psalm 18, Prof. Calvin again comments that God’s providences in history with
David foreshadowed and adumbrated the David Kingdom of the Danielic Son of Man.
ISBE
on Exodus: Prof. R. K. Harrison talks about a possible gloss or two in Exodus
by scribes for a brief moment, a few verses, that does not affect or impact the
literary fixity of the extant book.
For
Genesis 2.4ff.: Prof. Keil spends time talking about God breathing into man the
breath of life. Varied Hebrew words for breath are discussed.
For
Joshua 24, Joshua gives a review of patriarchal and Mosaic history, assuming
and knowing that the Israelites knew this history. But oh no! Nothing was
written down at this time the Graf-Wellie blowhards tell us! Oh no! Joshua was
an illiterate too!
For
Isaiah 6.9-13, Prof. Henry bangs home the consequences of being theologically
brain-dead, iron-hearted and soporific. There will be temporal consequences following
the spiritual issues.
ISBE
on Mark: Dr. R. P. Martin expands on Eusebius’s list of patristic citations
that Mark was Peter’s secretary, assistant and editor.
For
Mathew 5.13-16, Prof. Jamiesson simply read the glorious verses about salt and light.
Exquisite verses.
For
Romans 3, Prof. Hodge still is answering objections raised by Jews as to his
charge that they too are under and exposed to divine condemnation apart from
the Gospel of God’s justice in Christ.
For
Revelation 15.5-8, Prof. Henry comments on the seven vials of divine anger to
befall the earth. This is cataclysmic stuff that the sleepy will snore through
(in our time), eating, drinking, snoozing and breaking wind.
