Camden Society: "Narratives of the Reformation," 218ff.

This is largely a rework of John Foxe by the Camden Society. VIII. THE LYFE AND DEATH OF THOMAS CRANMER, LATE ARCHE-BUSHOPE OF CANTERBURY. Birth and education (218). His academic judgment on the King's divorce (219). Ambassadorial embassies to France, to the Emperor, and the Pope (220). As one can see, this is a quick wrap. Made Archbishop (221). Dr. Cranmer’s collections of law, work on the Sacraments, and the Holy Scripture and the Holy Fathers (221, 338). Dr. Cranmer’s arguments against Papal usurpation and supremacy (222). The Bishops’ Book AKA “The Institution of a Christian Man” (223). Dr. Cranmer’s action on the “device” with King Edward’s will for Lady Jane Grey as his heir (225). We would add that Gardiner and other subscribed to this “device,” but were later absolved by Bloody Mary, except for Cranmer whom she viewed as the font of all evil in the realm.
