Theological Journals, Part 1: 8/25/2022
Anglican Theological Review: in “Kathryn Tanner and the Receptivity of Christ and the Church,” Dr. Mikke Higton (U. of Durham, UK) tells us of Tanner’s Christology, universalism, Hegelianizing and even adoptionism of some sort. Curious. Does this matter to the Editors?
rinity Journal (TEDS, Spring 2022): in “Repetition in the Dialogue and Narrative of Judges,” Dr. Elizabeth Backfish wishes to analyze four types of repetition in Judges, more narrowly, but as something that may bear fruit in the wider field of OT studies. Looks productive for narrative analysis.,
Anglican and Episcopal History (June 2022): BOOK REVIEW: “The Role of Bishops in a Shared Future” (Church Publishing, 2022): largely, consisting of Bishops’ essays, including the heretic Katie Schori, comments on slavery and TEC’s shameful silence leading up to, through and after the Civil War.
Anglican and Episcopal History (June 2022): BOOK REVIEW: “Trauma and Survival in the Contemporary Church” (Cambridge Scholars, 2021): one hears of the traumas inflicted in church-run schools in western Canada against indigenous peoples. Anglican Journal has been covering these issues including some "mea culpa" recently offered by Justin of Canterbury and Frank of Rome. But, the Indians call such efforts cheap if there is no fiscal remuneration.,
Anglican and Episcopal History (June 2022): in “Anglicanism, the Lambeth Conferences, and International Relations in the Twentieth Century,” Dr. ANDREW CHANDLER discusses the impact of war and discussions in the post-WW2 period including Russian expansionism in the 1960s.
