1 October 1555 A.D. OXFORD: Trial of Bishops Ridley, Latimer and Cranmer—“guilty of heresy”

Bishops Ridley and Latimer would be burned at the stake a few weeks later on 16 October 1555.  (cf. Bromiley’s Crammer, 102.)
Cranmer was forced to watch the burning of Ridley and Latimer from the roof of Bocardo Prison to bring pressure on him. Cranmer would continue to be held in Oxford’s prison and would undergo diabolical schemes in pursuit of a thorough humiliation ending with his own death, 21 Mar 1556.
