Morning Prayer (1662 Book of Common Prayer)

REFORMED THEOLOGY. REFORMED AND CRANMERIAN PRAYER BOOK CHURCHMANSHIP. A CALVINISTIC ANGLICANISM THAT ONCE SURELY WAS, BUT SURELY IS NOT TODAY, AND SURELY WILL NOT BECOME (WITHOUT A ROOT AND BRANCH REFORMATION, TOP TO BOTTOM). John Calvin on the Psalms. Keil & Delitzsch on Joshua. Matthew Henry on Jude. Dr. Robert Reymond on Systematic Theology. Dr. Philip Schaff on the Swiss Reformation, namely, Ulrich Zwingli. Westminster Shorter Catechism, 81-90. On Psalm 4 with John Calvin, we get the fixed idea, to wit, that unregenerate madmen are ineluctably in bondage to themselves--in bondage to malice, envy, jealousy and other things that flow from these things. Oh yes, masks are on present, but what lies behind are men in bondage to original sin and actual transgressions. From Joshua and Prof. Keil, we see Joshua preparing the people for the Conquest. Get some food in preparation. Also, the spies will be dispatched shortly. From Matthew Henry on Jude, two things: (1) You've been forewarned about these false professors and infiltrators and (2) Being forewarned, you are forearmed. Jude doesn't pull punches or play the Marcionite in his handling of them. Jude wouldn't be allowed in an Episcopal pulpit. He might get censored on FB or Twitter. From Systematic Theology and Dr. Robert Reymond, we take our final view of Barth's rusted car being carted off to Bob's Junkyard. Secondly, "analytical language" objections, e.g.. Wittgenstein, is handled. It's Barth by another name, to wit, language can't describe realities, being symbolic. This applies also to transcendent issues. Of course, these boys use "language" to tell you about "inadequate" language is. This car will run out of gas too. This scribe studied under the Harvardians huffing one moment and puffing at another moment on these matters. This scribe drew ugly conclusions about his Professor in one paper, to wit, concluding his Harvard PhD, his lectures for the semester and his other academic work--using language--was meaningless. The student got an A and a note from the Harvardian Prof: "A. I don't know what to do with this." Funny stuff from Karly Barthy and the Wittgensteinians. Bye, bye, beta-boys and tub-thumpers. From Prof. Schaff on the Swiss Reformation, we get a few concluding remarks on the comparison of Luther and Zwingli. The Westminster Shorter Catechism does what it does well--catechetizes.
