Theological Journals, Part 2

Bibliotheca Sacra (Jan-Mar 2021): in “`Not Abandoned to Sheol:’ The Psalms and Hope for the Righteous after Death,” Dr. Kyle Dunham continues his careful exegesis of Psalter texts on afterlife in the OT and the hope of it. Modern Reformation (May/June 2022): “Everything in Nature Speaks of God: Understanding Sola Scriptura Aright:” Jordan Steffaniak speaks of the “good order of dogmatic theology,” yoking, natural and supernatural revelation. Calvin Theological Journal (Spring 2022): in “The Beatitudes and the Life of the Church, Gerard M, Cisar contextualizes the Sermon on the Mount to the Gospel of Matthew. “Repent.” We live in an unjust world. Westminster Theological Journal (Nov 2021, 355-381): “Classical Versus Contemporary: Engaging Trinitarian and Pneumatological Modelling for Ongoing Theological Construction:” Torey J.S. Teer wonks away on social trinitarianism. Interesting, but wonkdom. Mid-America Journal of Theology (Fall 2021, 7-34): in “Still No Peeking: Karl Barth’s Conflict with Federal Theology,” Dr. Beach explores Barth’s universal atonement and its inefficacy. Redemption accomplished, but not applied and a failed redemption for some. Global Anglican (Spring 2022), in in “Evaluating the Place of Main Images of the Atonement in Common Worship’s Order Two and its Significance for the Mission of the Church,” Alexander Evans speaks of Levitical sacrifices, the Day of Atonement, Hebrews, and Christ’s sacrifice. The apparent objection that “sacrificial blood-shedding” is confined to ancient cultures and is inapplicable in a post-modern period is inadequately addressed, but is glided over.
