John Calvin: New Testament Volume 1 (#9): Luke 1.16-17

Predictive prophecy by God's Angel, Gabriel, about God's work in John the Baptist's life in summoning people to repentance unto life and saving faith in the "Lamb that takes away the sins of the world." The prophecy was fulfilled, elect Churchmen and Churchwomen were effectually called, and a platform was prepared and raised for Jesus Christ's public ministry.

Of note, Matthew, Mark and John do not cover the subjects noted in Luke 1-2.
