Article VIII—Of the Three Creeds.
The three Creeds,
Nicene Creed, Athanasius’s Creed, and that which is commonly called the
Apostles’ Creed, ought thoroughly to be received and believed: for they may be
proved by most certain warrants of Holy Scripture.
Bishop Pilkington –
“There is no creed made at any general councils, nor Athanasius’s Creed, but we
willingly embrace it, receive it, and believe it. Seeing then we openly
profess and teach all things contained in the Holy Scriptures, and all the
Articles of any creed determined in general council, or written by Athanasius,
or any Catholic father, how can it be that we be out of the faith?” – Burning
of St. Paul’s, &c.
