John Andrew Armes (born London, 10 September 1955) is the Scottish Episcopal Bishop of Edinburgh. He was consecrated and installed as Bishop in May 2012.[1]

He was educated at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, the University of Manchester and Salisbury Theological College. He was ordained deacon in 1979, and priest in 1980.[2] After a curacy at Walney Island he was Chaplain to Agriculture in the Diocese of Carlisle. He was Priest in charge at Goodshaw andArea Dean of Rossendale before becoming Rector of St John the Evangelist, Edinburgh. He was Dean of Edinburgh[3] from 2010 until his elevation to the Episcopate.
